Lila Garrett

Lila Garrett is a longtime activist, and award-winning screenwriter. She hosts

radio’s political talk show,  “Connect the Dots” heard every Monday morning at 7AM

on Pacifica’s KPFK in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.  She was Southern California

Chair of the 2004 Kucinich campaign, and past President of Southern California

Americans for Democratic Action which honored her with the ELEANOR ROOSEVELT

AWARD. In 1991 she was a recipient of Senator Barbara Boxer’s WOMEN MAKING

HISTORY  Award. She has served on the Boards of the ACLU, the Venice Family

Clinic and the Writers Guild of America.  Recognizing early that Iraq had no

weapons of mass destruction, she founded Americans against War in Iraq

(AAWWI) months before Bush attacked that country.  She is also a founding

member of the California Clean Money Campaign.  She currently serves on both the

National and Local Boards of Progressive Democrats of America and on the National

Board of the new J Street Pac, which endorses only Congressional candidates who

support a two state solution for Israel and the Palestinians through non-violent

negotiations.   As a TV-screenwriter, producer and director, she has won two

EMMYS and the WRITERS GUILD AWARD.  Last year she received the SHE MADE IT

Award, the highest honor given to women by the Museum of TV and Radio.   And

last month she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Progressive

Democrats of America.  She was introduced at the ceremony by her magnificent 16

year old grand daughter....a moment which made all the other years of frustrating

activism worthwhile.
