Nanci Oeschle: I’m a homemaker and community volunteer. After the
2004 presidential election I felt so hopeless. It was during this
time that I came across the book “MoveOn's 50 Ways to Love Your
Country: How to Find Your Political Voice and Become a Catalyst for
Change. “ It started me on a journey of getting involved with my
community. I’ve done things I never imagined doing, like calling
voters across the nation to encourage them to vote for progressive
candidates; writing letters to my paper about issues that are
important to me and my community, knocking on my neighbors’ doors to
make sure that all registered democrats get to the polls and even
standing on busy street corners with signs to end war and support
marriage equality. Now that we have this new ray of hope in President
Obama, I want to continue making sure that I can do whatever it takes
to get politicians in place that will support progressive causes such
as single payer healthcare; clean energy that makes sense; and
repealing proposition 8
